Ok I didn't mean this to be a debate....

Have you guys seen the condition of the car?

I posted a Link in my second post so you can see it before it goes into the shop...

Plus this is going to be a daily driving machine too so I need it too look decent...

Not how it is now. My Second Stage involves the moter Just to make it clear....

My 1st Consern is getting it on the road safety Certified.

There are no SET rules on how to build a car, generally you should do the mechanicals before the finishing touches on the body.

BUT since we are talking about AE86s here, it all depends on what condition your 86 is in the first place, and how long you plan to keep it.

If the shell is really decent and barely any rust, then you could put the rust-removal off later. But if the shell is rusty but you do plan to build it up properly, repair it first, so you know exactly what you are building onto. You can't paint on a canvas with holes.

My suggestion is have a straight frame so you can recognize how the car behaves with the stock suspension and motor, or in other words, the AE86 that is the stock chassis. THEN you will realize for example how stiff you want your springs to be, or how much power do you really need, it will come to you.

Fabius brought up a good point, however assuming the person performing the engine swap or major suspension installation, knows what he/she is doing, no body damage will occur.

good thinking man. Start with the basics - no sense in building a beast if it isn't already in lovely working condition

Generally It's the Mechanical Stuff 1st, but the person that sold it to me said that he got a deal at a body shop so he hooked it up altogether including the cost of the car.

He was going to get it done before he sold it but I caught wind of it before the price would of been jacked up.

Also I check around different body shops for prices and showed them pics of it and i got some high prices plus one shop that said it wasn't worth his time.(I was insulted when I hear that the AE86 wasn't worth his time)

So I did the best Deal I could of done!
