driveshaft removal

Hello,

I need to change the left oil seal between the driveshaft and the gearbox (manual gearbox).
For this I need to separate the left driveshaft from the gearbox. Two questions:

Do I need to take out also the driveaxle nut from the wheel bearing? I mean the 30mm nut that sticks the wheel end of the driveshaft to the brake disk (wheel bearing). What nuts do need to go out to have enough play to pull the driveshaft? If I take out the 2 nuts between the shock-absorber and the brake disk support will be enough?

And second question, is there any retaining pins or something to lock the driveshaft to the gearbox? Say, if I loose the wheel part of the driveshaft, is there any other thing i should consider before trying to pull the driveshaft from Gearbox?

Driveshaft out -sorted out; back in - problem

Me again,

Today I changed the gearbox-driveshaft oil seal. Actually, the old one was in rather good shape, so I am wandering the leak was not seal only.

During removal phase, (I read in a topic around here that) it should have been very difficult to pull the driveaxle from the gearbox when pulling the driveshaft out. Actualy, this went out too easy. I could move the driveshaft with the hand up//down - in/out without difficulty, and with the screwdriver I pulled the driveaxle out. I felt something like the driveshaft was not fix properly.

During reinstallment phase of the driveshaft, I pushed the driveshaft back in the gearbox, but I do not know if I did it correctly, since the is a lot of play up/down in/out as before. Tried to force it with some hammer kicks, but didn't help.

My question: is there any retaing "something" in the gearbox to keep the driveshaft fixed? If it is, how can I do lock the driveshaft in the GB? Hammerkicks, special tool, special procedure? Can U help?
