Mine idles strange from time to time as well, but have the time it's at 900 give or take. But now after it's warmed up, and holding idle the engine shakes a lot. Even the tail pipe is shaking and I know it's not suppose to be doing this. Anyways back on topic, does your cooling fan come on when it changes idle? Mine seems to come on even when it's a cold motor and the rpms will go up to about 1000.

Thank you Salduchi1785 for your posting can you show me the other postingabout idelingspeed because I did not find it on page 3 or 4 . Inadition thank you for your email adress.

Thank you for your replies Excidium . I don't know if the cooling fan is on or not but I will check it out tomorrow when I drive my car to work. I do know that when I stop for a red light the ideling speed also changes from 800 -about alittle more than 1000. I also feel like ther is asurge of power form time to time but I think that is also related to the increasing ideling speed.

That's what happens if the air or defrost (actually uses A/C) is on.

My Corolla Idles at around 850 rpm. The cooling fan will turn on when your car is on defrost mode because, it uses the A.C. That is the normal operation of the fan. The fan does turn on and off quite frequently and can be annoying.
