Does your 05 Corolla ever thump when u put it in park?

my 2005 corolla sometimes thumps or jolts alittle but when i put it into park. does any of your do that? at first i thought it was bad for the transmission, but some people say it doesent hurt anything. and my RPM is all the way down when i put it in park. is this normal?

It's the parking sprag falling into a slot. It has a spring on it to hold pressure until a slot lines up.

Just fully depress the brake and pull up the parking brake. Some people do say it stresses the tranny, but I've never heard it from a Toyota tech.

All I'm saying is it can be avoided by fully depressing the brake and pulling the parking brake.
