I haven't been around here much lately.... probably due to the fact that it's summer and I'm gonna enjoy it as long as it lasts.
Anyway, it's sad that Randy had his recent loss with his mishap with a guardrail. Meanwhile I'm taking the Cab to work and back cause both my 86's have blow motors due to overheating... This sucks.
Anyway, the borohachi is gonna get a new motor, and I'm gonna paint it flat black on the bottom and flat gunmetal grey on the top half....possibly put all my suspension from the other car on it and make it the borohachi battle 86 and put the mint one on hold...
How's everyone else doing?

Yup. My dads Lincon over heater the first day he got it LOL! It was caused by a dirty radiator. So every time he turned the A/C on his engine would get fried. (it only got fried the one time)
i saw some guy in belville with a hotrod that was painted matte red.....it looked ill!!! But more importantly, it was a HOT RODDER who did it! and we all know how finickey those hod rod guys and their body/paint conditions are...
bah.. i had the wreck of my car towed to a 'storage' spot on some guy's property. .so i'm gonna be ripping everything i can off of it while its there ..
other than that, I still have to deal with the careless driving charge and try like hell to avoid getting my license suspended..
and I want another ae86..!!

anyways, cars overheat. period, supercharged or not. and with engines that are at least 12 yrs old, it just happens.
noooo i said in my original post i KNOW they overheat, i'm asking in HIS CASE, was HIS over-heating due to HIS supercharger or just aging of the engine....
ok HERES the sad question, what is the solution to overheating? you tinker with the cooling systems?
oh yeah, another thing, just yesterday I got my 13" panasport rims in the mail.. they turned out to be 13x6", not 13x7" as the guy said, but i guess that's all moot now..
they're still suitable for my 205 R-compounds.. but .. well.. you know...

Randy, Get a mustang! Seriously... like a 1990 LX Coupe 5.0... I want one so bad to drift! Just offering up some alternatives. You know as much as I do, that there's always someone out there that owns an AE86, and wants to sell it, and doesn't even know what it's worth. Talk to Alex.... he's considering selling a hachback. (alex, the guy that comes out with us with a white DC2) His ICQ is 19894462
As for the issue of overheating...it is usually caused by a badly corroded, ineffective radiator, leaky cooling system, blockage in the cooling system, faulty thermostat that stays closed, an engine that's running lean-causing detonation, faulty water pump, or in my case, the head gasket blew and I bled all the coolant out of the motor and tried to limp it to the next stop... next thing you know... the motor's dead... meaning the pistons actually fused to the cylinder bores....yes it got that hot. And YES, Supercharged motors usually run hotter temps...any car that's modified runs hotter temps.
Anyway... hope everyone else is having a better year... Andrew, if you're serious, I might take you up on that... there's minimal body work to do, but I do have to replace some fenders.... easy stuff.
Nick, when can we put a motor in the borohachi? I don't have a car right now and it's driving me NUTS!!!!!!!

hum, well for me, i just spent the past few days running around finishing off my to do list. some of it's got to do with fixing up my boro.. so far i vaccumed the whole interior, changed the thermostat, complete flush with that prestone sheat, new plugs, new oil and filter and the next thing will be tranny fluid. spent 4+ hours stripping my parts coupe interior in blazing weather. my sweat beads were as big as rain drops and my pants were drenched... glad that's over.
overall this year, i blew my sr5 on the 401 in mid jan. i think it was due to neglecting to put oil into the engine. haha. bought the gts coupe 2 days before i blew the sr5 and had it licensed in feb, then drove that for a week and then IT blew. waited two months and sold the blown sr5 to ddshen's friend just a week before i finally got a decent gts hatch. then just 3 weeks ago, picked up my new project gts hatch (my 7th ae86) .. hehehe... all is well
i'm still looking for the following though (which ever one):
gts coupe (to trade my boro!)
s13 hatch (post '91 with low k will pay 5g's. do not want hicas, abs or sunroof. pre '91's i'll only use it as winter beating and willing to pay only 1500)
s14a (just to try it, another FR, i'll rip out 9g's for one)
na6 (preferably '91, 5 to 6g range)
s12 (winter beating purposes again, under 1500, NA or FI)
okay...well pretty much every day is a build up for me. Until i get parts, the car just sits and gets a sun tan....and parts lay scattered amongst my house. wheels in the side yard; cams on the pool table; clutch on the basement floor; and a damaged ssr rim that STILL needs to be fixed....
since the last track day, and looking forward to the next, i've decided to get new pads...probably kvr's or metal masters....which ever are cheaper and easiest to come by.
My head(s) are just sitting in the garage...waiting for the gaskets, valves, seals. etc. so i can get the 12:1 job done. the block has been sitting on the stand for the past 5 months waiting for oversized rings and pistons. Once collected, both head and block will be shipped off to the machine shop.
In the meanwhile, i just clean and stare at my carbs....sigh.
I've decide that i'll upgrade the suspension for the next track day. Its the easiest, quickest mod and it will deliver a noticable difference. Out with the mushy TRD USA's and long illuminas and in with coils and short strokes. Hopefully i can get ground control to ship the coils very soon, and hopefully a friend of mine can get the short strokes....then we should see some ass ripping!
As for Japan...well my parts just sit in japan collecting dust. I figure my HTS shocks and super deep dish Enkies won't arrive on canadian shores until december as my JDM source and I are have problems. Eh...looks like a trip to Tokyo is needed....J BLood Bumpers here i come!!!!!
As for me, my ae86 is running good. Puffs a bit of oil on start due to weakened valve seals, other than that, not a drip of oil added between oil changes. It's no preoccupation because the GZE is going in this winter. Tires rub a bit on interiror well walls due to their size, only on slow u-turns, nothing major. On another front, I'm actually in the process of acquiring HKS 264 cams and HKS adjustable cam gears. If all goes well! I hope...
I got all my parts for the GZE swap. All that's left is to do the job this coming September. We're going to start by rebuilding the GZE completely in early september, then doing the swap by october or november. All depends on the availability of my friend and his garage. It's usually quiet there by mid-september so...we'll see.
I jus can't $#^&*($# wait!!!!!
