4th Generation lateral control rod

i've been searching for a way to lower my '80 corolla....with no luck i might add....but i ran across a few post that mentioned that the lateral rod has to be replaced with a shorter one....or an adjustable one.....if lowered....but i also notice that the posts were all ae86 owners....so my question is.....would this also apply to my '80....thanks...

WELCOME TO TN!

basically to lower your car it's the same as the AE86. cut the front strut casing the reweld the perches for the coilovers. in the back you can prolly use some AE86 drop springs or maybe cut it. most popular combo for shox are KYB AGX (SW20) fronts and '90s Camaro rears. the lateral bar or panrod is mostly for centering your rear end. when i did a GT-S rear swap on my Starlet i need an adjustable one coz the rear end is not center and i can't use the stock one so i had an adjustable made. you can prolly make your own panrod!

yeah...kind of figured i would need a new lateral control rod.....how did you make yours???.....i was thinking couple of heim joints/rod ends.....and aluminum tubing....

why would there need to be any modifications to the strut casing for a coilover set-up???.....unless that has more to do with replacing the strut....OR....is it for the strut itself to sit a little lower???....

you ONLY need to modify the strut casing if you're using a short stroke shocks. there's lots of talk about it at club4ag. check it out.
