White smoke can be caused by blown turbo or blown headgasket.
Open the oil filler cap and see if you find any trace of coolant (milky white stuff).
How is the turbo shaft play?

blown turbo would cause black smoke. Lots of white smoke is usually head gasket problem.

well it depends on how the turbo is cooled and/or which line gave...... there are turbo's that are only cooled by the oil that passes through them, so you wouldn't have white smoke coming from a turbo with shaftplay....

Well the waterjackets in turbos usually arent connected directly with the shaft, so unless your turbo housing has cracked it wont leak to the engine. Shaft sealing problems cause oil leakages, causing black smoke.

does it smoke only when you start it up????if thats the case then it's probly oil burning. I don't know if it just happened all of a sudden or what but that could be the problem. Antifreeze usually burns kinda blue......if it looks blue than you probly have a blow head gasket or a cracked head. I don't know anything about turbos so that could be the problem too.

I thought white smoke meant coolant burning? (headgasket)
Blue smoke is oil burning (as in the case of valve stem seal problems)

You smoking crack or something? Antifreeze burns white, oil burns blue.

I didnt see any oil in my coolant system, nor any coolant in the oils, yet my headgasket was blown.
