stupid questionS about 05 corollas

does your 05 corolla have lights on the dashboard that tell you that your head lights and tail lights are on? mine doesent but the manual says that some do. i dunno but to me, it would be sorta annoying to have a light always on my dashboard at night when im driving.

also, i heard that if you have the low winshield washer fluid dector installed in your car, the low winshield washer fluid light comes on everytime the car is started to tell you its working. is this true?

does the gas light come on when u start the car for like a second then goes out like all the other lights on your dashboard?

There is a little bulb light in the gauge cluster that tells if the lights are on. What model do you have?? (since guages are different in all models. CE gets regular guages, S gets white on black silhouette guages, XRS gets black on red electronic optitron guages that are always on etc.). The bulb for headlights should be on every Corolla.

It has been a few months since I last saw my S so I can't remember exactly if there was a little bulb for 'low beams' ( guaranteed blue indicator for the high beams). My XRS has one, but that is because the electronic red on black guages through black lens are always on from the time the car is turned on while my S white on black silhouette lighted up when the headlights were turned on. Isn't the white light from the back of the guages that light up with the headlight not good enough for you???

As far as I remember, probably there was a bulb for headlights. I am not sure why other Corolla S owners are not responding since there are tons.

My headlights are always on as soon as you release the parking break but theres no indicator on my gauges that tells you if they are on or not.

Also, yes, whenever i m close to emptying the washer fluid it will light up. a bunch of light lights up when you start the car...it's just a feature to check that they are working.

Yeah, that is the Canadian daytime running lights, but my XRS has a bulb that exclusively lights up when the headlight switch is turned. Remember DRL are different from normal headlights since they run at only 80% of the full strength of the headlights. I thought the S had a bulb that indicates the lights switched on.

In the US, they get a different version DRL for Corollas, which is called the twilight sentinel lights. They usually work with a sensor that senses the light condition. If the light condition is close to dusk or dawn, the lights turn themselves on automatically. Otherwise, they are off primarily because of the no law requiring DRL in US.

personally i dont really see the point of head light indicators. i mean you would notice that the headlights are not working when you look ahead the road in front of you...(to see if it's bright or not, and if you can see where you're going)

Well mine doesn't have the headlight indicator light. Since I have day time running lights. But I'd have to agree that it is a pointless indicator. I think we would know when we need to have our headlights on or off LOL! My mothers car, 01 Accord, has something like that where when it's dark enough you can see the headlight indicator light, and by then you should turn them on. But you can't see that indicator unless it's dark. Ahh yes useless improvements. What better way to sell cars than by offering people useless things that no other car has LOL!

I don't follow you. My Corolla has daytime running lights and a headlight indicator light. Why would they be mutually exclusive.

I might be one of the few people who use this light I guess. I don't put the car in drive and take off until the light goes on (which usually takes maybe 5 or 10 seconds for the lights to go on). Depending on where you have the dimmer set, this is the only indication of whether your headlights are on with the optitron guages. Really it is my taillights I'm worried about not being on, and the reason why I wait for the dash indicator to light.
