new Corolla S

How much should I expect to pay out the door on a new Corolla S with decent options (alloy wheels, not lowest trim level, power widows, locks, AC, CD player, maybe leather int.)?

What options are recommended?

What options are rip-offs?

Go to a new car buying/pricing website like cars or edmunds and price out your car with all the options. You will be able to see invoice pricing (close to dealer's actual cost). Be sure to check yes to allow dealer's to email you offers. If you're serious about buying, haggle over email, it's much easier than going in person and you will get a much better deal by dealing with the dealer's Internet salespeople.

Options are only a "rip-off" when you pay msrp for them.......do your research, as far as msrp vs invoice prices, and THEN go shopping..... Dunno what you expect to pay out the door (varies by location - we have 9.25% sales tax here, due to no state income tax). We picked up a fairly loaded S for 2% over invoice (which, I'm sure, the dealer didn't pay in the first case, but, I felt I got a pretty good deal - dealer will pick up/service/deliver car when service needed, and "free" tires for life....will likely be taking advantage of this at least as long as warranty lasts

I hope you get some options on what "Free tires" they put on because if they will be replacing your tires with their stock/standard tire(Goodyear Integritys) your better off buying your own because they are one of the worse tires ever made ...just ask anyone that had/has them on...Their rated at the bottom with a 13% owners answer to "would you buy this tire again" ..the only problem is their stock Firestones are just as bad....Radd Guy

Hey, RaddGuy - car's still "too new", so haven't really gotten to "pushing" it yet....the stock tires could very well suck (will find out if it ever stops raining and if my wife ever leaves the car home...LOL)....the service guy said they'd replace it with whatever tire we want ("within reason"....hehheh) - he definitely mentioned Michelin amongst replacements...I've never been a fan of Firestones, probably wouldn't consider them anyways.

What tires did your car come with? If their Goodyears expect them to go slick at 30K What I'm looking for when I trade mine in someday is what a few dealers(different manufactures) are offering around here is FREE gas for a year...lol but that will end quick...or free maintenance(my 15K check up cost me $340)...lol how about the Kia starting to become like supermarkets (Buy on get one free) what next double coupons? ...Radd Guy

Yup, ours came with the Goodyears.....I don't really worry about it - every car I've ever bought new came with crappy tires, so I guess I'll just add these to the list.
