Hi guys,
I am thinking of swapping the manual trans on my '90 DX sedan (4A-FE). Sometimes when I try to put it into third (upshift or downshift), it wants to pop back out. If I shift into third with a little bit more force than usual, then it will not pop back out. Once I get it into gear, I don't have any trouble (it never pops out of gear just driving down the road or anything). It almost seems like it is not going all the way into gear, and this only happens with third. Could this be a shifter problem, shift cable problem, or is it the trans? I have heard of this happening with third gear on other AE92s...any thoughts?
Anyway, I am thinking of swapping in a C52 trans out of a GT-S if I determine that the trans is worn. I assume that this trans is stronger inside? What I am wondering is if this is a bolt-in swap. Is it worthwhile to do this, or should I just find another C50 (I drive the car pretty hard)? Are all of the external dimensions the same? What parts would I need to get with the GT-S trans (slave, hydraulic lines, flywheel, shift cables, mounts, etc.) to swap it in? Which clutch should I use, the GT-S clutch or the standard one (or are they even different)? I used the search function here, and from what little I could gather it seems like it is a pretty straight-forward swap. Just want to make sure before I get a trans, though!

Thanks guys! Regards, Aaron
