Finally ready to start modifying

I have about $2000 to spend on upgrading my car. I am really not sure where to start on this car. (1989 Corolla SR5 I believe it is the 4A-FE please correct me if I am wrong.) I have already done the basic maintanence spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, trans flush, radiator flush, air filter and fuel filter. It already feels 1000% percent better!! Now I want more power, brakes and some suspension work. I figured I would just do the basic I/H/E (Intake/Headers/Exhaust) but I am not sure where I can find these parts. I have looked around on the internet, but I have found very little and what I have found I am not sure of the quality or the performace of the pieces! If anyone could give me some advice on what parts to choice or maybe even a different area to focus my attention on it would be very appreciated!! Thanks for any help in advance!

go with a gze

Dump the 4afe engine and look for a Levin frontclip with a 4agze. I found mine for $1500 US. Then I went to the junkyard to search for the rest of the stuff that I needed.

peace and good luck

I thought about doing an engine swap but I am already in the process of doing an engine swap with my Nissan, so I really don't want to go through another swap right now. I just want this to be a fun around town car for now and then maybe later on (A year or two) do an engine swap. I have heard that the 4a-ge head will bolt on to the 4a-fe with little effort and great results!! Is this true? Keep the advice coming!!

Search button my friend.. there's been discussions regarding this type of swap.. actually its a 7AFE bottom end on a 4AGE head.. hence the name 7AGE. this motor is stronger than either its donors... but nothing is "bolt on". Like I said.. SEARCH button always works.
