Half shafts falling out of transmission - 91 Corolla

I bought a really clean 91 Corolla with 135k on it. Auto trans. I bought it from a guy i know because he can't seem to keep the half shafts from falling out of the tranny. He replaced both half shalts and that didn't fix the problem... thats not where I would have started, but anyway he did it. He also replaced the transmission mount.

I was thinking that this could possibly be related to the points where the control arms bolt to the body. If those points are rusted out and the shafts aren't putting enough pressure toward the transmission.

Any help is appreciated.

there's no way those control arms are failing....... if it is something on the wheel end then there would be more problems with the car and driveability than just the half shafts coming out..... i would be tempted to think that part of the tranny went bad (broke) or the c-clips on the axle ends are missing (and/or aren't bowed out enough)

I sold the car today for 200 bucks. I bought it for 50 four days ago, so I dont really care much.

The guy that bought it said it is a shaft that runs between the driveshafts that strips out.
