AE92 compatibility with 86 4-age and 89 4-age engine components

I just need to know if the alternator, TPS, and IAC valve would be compatible. I found an 86 with those parts locally and it has the 4-age engine in it, but i didn't know if they would be compatible or not. I kinda figured they would be but i thought i'd just ask and make sure before i go and spend money on parts that won't fit.

They're both BigPort bluetops so I'd assume so. Only difference I know of between the AE86 and AE92 versions of the bigport were supposally injector sizes and ECU tuning and even then there isn't a big difference in power.

They're actually mechanically different also (different blocks and internals)... but the parts you list should interchange.

TPS may not...... check part numbers.... iac may not either, as the ae86 uses a different intake manifold (faces the other way)

well i looked up the parts #'s. The only place i could find them was at napaautoparts.com. the tps was 1 # different. I don't need the TPS anymore so it doesn't matter. I'm going to get a new one i think. And as for the iac. I still don't know if that will fit. I'm going to get my alternator fixed. so my only remaining ? is would the iac from an 86 4-age fit on and 89 4-age.

Actually.. according to Tspeed90, ae92 4age's are not bluetops.

As for the 4AGE similarities, internals and engine sensors might be the same.. but externally, the engines might be different since the AE86 is mounted for RWD and the AE92 is mounted for FWD so the alternator, starter and other parts might be positioned for that specific setup. Same applies for the MR2 4age's.

mr2's are the same as a FWD setup....... they even use the same transmissions (only with the shifter linkage on the other side of the tranny).....

Actually... just about every part from every 4age will interchange. The only difference between the two TVIS engines are the ribs on the block and piston big end size. The TVIS vs. small port head shape is a wee bit different. You can use the same pistons, rings, rods, cranks, sensors, exaust... etc

um.... wrist pins for connecting the piston to the connecting rod on the early 4ag is different than the later t-vis bigport and smallport (ie, cranks with a 40mm rod journal vs 42mm rod journal)

the intake ports are a little more than a "wee bit different".... along with intake manifolds, distributors, and some other electronics....... and the smallports have an oildrain back on the back of the head along with milder cams than the bigports

the later bigports have a every so slightly milder cam than the early model as well, but they're virtually the same
