is this something that can be replace with a reasonable amount of work? my rear fenders are rusted to shit but i cant figure out where the rear quarter ends and.. the rest.. begins. scrap yard i would imagine would be cheaper if this is even possible, plus i prefer the 85 fenders without the stupid plastic lip.
The reason you cant find where ther rear quarter ends is because the whole back of the car -minus the hatch/trunk- is one piece. There is no replacement part. A decent body guy can repair almost anything, and I think that the front fender lips are the same as the rear lips only inverted, and can be cut out and welded in place of the old lips. I think this is how I will fix mine for good. Right now I just filled them with fiberglass for a temp fix. It cost's a bit at a shop but they can usually do good work.
Ciao

actually, the rear quarters WERE available from toyota up until a year or two ago.. so there may still be some kicking aruond a warehouse somewhere.. but they are really expensive.. like $700 a side or something near that ..
yeah, if you can find a good bodyman, they might be able to refabricate the wheel arches.. i know some people have gone that route before (that's not cheap either tho..)

I forgot who I was talking to but I think there's a breakpoint at about the "half-way-up-the-window" point where you can cut off and the quarter can be removed with a new one welded back in it's place. But I think you're better off just patching it unless it's really really bad.
actually, there's a place in london that sells just the rear quarter fender lip for 60 bucks cdn each.... and there's a fixed up red ae86 that used honda accord fender lips.. but dunno what year.. supposedly they resemble ae86's really closely....
here you go.. (man, if you need something, do what i do, open up the phone book and call like crazy):
1211 hyde park in london 5194722970
each front fender 108 + tax
rear arch 58.9 each
Wow, see how usefull this board can be. I had no idea of the rear quarters having a break-point, nor did I know you could purchase the rear quarters. Learn somthing new every day!

I just had all of my quarters replaced... cost about $400 for the quarters (plus shipping and duty and tax from osaka)
... then a little more than $1000 at for body work
my front fenders were from a japanese wearhouse.... rear quaters were cut my brother's friends hachi roku who crashed his (japan-mountain racing)
..........and before that i never knew that its not just in cartoons
to do the rear quarters : the old ones must be cut out and the new ones welded in and blended..very hard to do...
I think if look very hard you should be able to find a store which still have some.. happy hunting
Hachi^^Roku, your car looks like it just came off the boat from Japan, very nice man.
I was toying with the idea of doing up some custom fiberglass fender flares front and back. Nothing too wild, not even close to as extreme as the N2's, but maybe 1.5 inches at the highest point and blended to the fenders and 1/4 panels. The front fenders are ok, but the rears are toast. I would cut the arches clean off at the highest point possible and grind away all traces of rust, spray it with a rust inhibing primer and paint. Then apply the flares and have them blended to look seamless. Throw on some deep dish wheels with a nice polished lip and call it done. What do you guys think, or : ? Boxed at the top or rounded?
I would totally go for that idea. I myself was pondering the same idea, but have other needs for money right now. There's a guy on Club4 that is selling fiberglass copy's of the N2 fenders I believe. Good luck ...

I've got an uncle who works for www.showcars-bodyparts.com . I'm gonna raid the wearhouse in the next few weeks and see what fits the lines of the car. If I come up with anything, I'll fill you guys in and possibly have a few sets made.
Norm, I Saw those wheel arches on club4ag just yesterday.
I have the exact same problem!!... rust on rear quater... planning on cutting it out and cover it with flares... :b
Isn't there this guy in the classified forum that is selling AE86 flares? i think it was for like 160US...
is that a good price?
