corolla gts

hi there, I was looking at consumerguide, and i seen 1990's corolla gts with a 1.6L
130hp/105ftlbs engine.

are these the ae92 corollas? also exactly what years come with this engine?

lastly what do these cars run in the 1/4 mile?

Thank you!

Search is your friend. And yes, the 90's Corolla GT-S is the AE92 and those specs are for the smallport 4ag equiped models. All Corolla GT-S's came with the 4AG though only 90 and 91 came with the smallport 4AG (previous years had the 1st and 2nd gen largeport 4AG). As for quarter mile times I wouldn't know since these cars are rarely seen on the strip as they are more popular as Autocross cars.

The 4AGE was rated at 120hp from 1985-1989 and 130hp for 1990-91, the Japanese version in 90-91 was rated at 140hp but used MAP sensor instead of AFM.

Looks is all they share. Comparing the SR5 to the GTS is like comparing sh!t and chocolate. The SR5 has the weak 4AF, rear drum brakes, and low grade interior while the GTS has the cult legend 4AG engine, rear disc brakes, and the high grade interior. There's probly more differences but that is what comes to mind right now.

Seats, steering wheel, guage cluster, and carpeting quality are all different. Put an SR5 side by side to a GTS and the differences are very apperant.

Thanks man, I was looking at an SR5 for cheap funds, but that helped me decide not.

actually i like my sr5 interior better than the gts interiors...... the only thing i've swapped over is the gauge sets from the gts..... my carpets are perfect & my seats bolster well......

I believe the speedo goes higher... ask Xenon.. he transplanted the GTS gauges into his SR5. Also GTS's come with an Oil and Battery gauge built in.. the SR5 have something else in that spot (the little squares next to the clock)

BTW, nice to see you joined port69.

ok..... so there isn't any confusion....

gauges:
gts have higher rpm and mph.... they also have the seperate cluster with oil pressure and voltage..... sr5's have dummy lights for the doors and for oil pressure

seats are different
door panels are different as seat material is different
carpet is the same between sr5's and gts's (though, color varies)
the rear dash in the sr5 has the 3rd brakelight, gts's don't since they have theirs in the wing
