Hood release stuck, how can I open the hood??

When I got my car, the hood wouldn't latch. I took the mechanism apart and found that the cable was seized. I freed it up, lubed it and the entire latch mechanism, and then saw that the little spring that keeps tension in the release cable was broken. I didn't have the right one, so I put a larger one in; hooking it on the side of the whole latch assembly.

This worked fine for a while, but I guess the spring let go, as when I pulled the release lever, it stuck out again!

How do I open my hood??

Last time that happened to me I was at the shop I usually get my car fixed.. I forget how they did it though.. I think they had to put their hand in thru the bottom of the car.. good luck.

Weak. This is gonna suck. I could always just cut the hood off and get another one from the yard... I think they get $20 a pop

Why would you do that... go to a shop.. they know how to do it..

I actually ended up reaching a socket thru the grille and removing the 3 bolts! The hood came right off.

Kinda scary that you can do that so easily!
