I have a 1997 Corolla. Now a days, there are more trucks and SUVs on the roads. And at night this makes driving very uncomfortable for me. The glare from their headlights is just too much for me. I have tried wearing driving glasses, but truth be told they reduce my preferal(sp?) vision. And i have to turn my head to look in the side lanes before i can do anything.
So now i am wondering if i should either have my rear window tinted, or maybe have a Rear View dimming mirror instead. Your help will be appreciated.
Um... Look at your rear view... see that little tab on the bottom? Push it foward. No more glare because the mirror has been re-angled for night driving. Its been like that for ages. I had it on all my cars and so has my parents. No one seems to know what that little button does but me and my one friend, its really sad. Especially when I see these stupid kids show off their automatic ones like the thing was never there until the year 2000.

That little switch comes in handy. Works perfectly. A whole lot of people don't know about it. It's perfect for Highway driving.
Yeah... I was gonna say... most rearview mirrors are made with double glass, so that you flick the little tab on the bottom either up or down.. depending on what position it was in first, and you get rid of the glare.

Well I'll be....
I just ran to the car and saw that tab you were talking about. I have pushed it forward. But since i don't have anywhere to go right now, nor the time i will observe the difference tomorrow night. I will be driving to D.C. and back so it will be a good way to know how good it is. Thanks for the tip man once again.
Tinting is great. 35% rear. Even when asshats run with their highbeams on...I can still drive without being blinded.
Mirror tint in the rear is the way to go. Blind the @$$holes with the highbeams and the wannabe truckers who don't know how to readjust their headlights after jacking it up.
You can set the tab to work either, I like my rearview mirror this way.. push the tab down, then set the rearview mirror to the position you like... this way when you wanna switch it to night driving, you push the tab up and the mirror will reflect off the roof. its better this way. If you go from the oppositte way.. which is having the tab up when you set your mirror, then when you push the tab down, it reflects off the seats and the rear passangers.
Tinting is descently effective (as far as 35% goes), but I prefer an auto-dimming mirror. Don't have to worry about losing visibility, then. Flipping that day/night switch gets rid of glare, but to me makes it much harder to tell exactly what's behind you.

Sigh.. An Autodimming mirror is the same thing as that little tab, its just automatic. God people are getting really lazy...
I really don't see it as being lazy. My dad's I35 has an autodimming mirror in it, and I love that because I can still see what's behind me at night. If I use my mirror and flip the day/night tab, it's damn near impossible to make out what's behind me, and where exactly it is on the road.
