AE92 Rain prob !!!

just got back today from a 300 mile road trip today... on my way to my destination things were very good the car ran great 80-90mph the whole way their and the car never skipped a beat... however after a slight rain last night and waking up to begin my drive back home i was struck with a heavy downpoor after about 15min to a half hour of cruising at these high speeds my car would kinda stall on me.. if i gave it a lil gas it was like it hit a wall and wouldnt go any faster...however if i were to put her to the floor she would take off like hell

long story short the rain had stopped as i drove for about an hour and the car felt better... when i got home the car had sat for awhile and i got back in her and she runs like shit until she gets warm ??? i hear a backfire here & their and when i hit the gas it seems like its missing and when it does this nonsence it just seems like the car wants to die BUT IT WONT ??

im guessing i got alot of moisture around the engine and is the cause of this nonsense

Alternator. I've read several threads about the rain/moisture and Corolla alternators. That's where I would start. Check voltage readings/charging.

Or you have a crack in the distributor cap and the moisture makes it misfire.

My car was doing that in the rain only.. turns out one of the screws on the cap had fallen off and the moisture would get in.. it was time to change my cap so I went to Toyota and got a new one anyways.

well i think i know whats going on... i checked my cap and rotor and my cap was worn to crap so i figured this was my problem... i went to the store and picked up a new cap & rotor and the car still runs the same !!! as i dug into this i pulled my plugs and they were white so my car is running lean !! awhile back after installing my header the O2 sensor through me a code so im guessing this is it... but i never had a problem until now (after my trip) when i first installed everything the code didnt go through until i was on the highway doing about 60 and it been on ever since but nuthing changed when it came on ?? until now ??

NOOOO! don't get the cheap crap.. get the OEM Toyota.. this is why you keep getting this.. the cap i took off the last time actually looked better than the cheap one I just replaced.. OEM is not much expensive anyways.. I recently bought the cap for $12 CDN and the rotor was $5 I think, at the dealer too. The cap and rotor kit I had before was Newell or something like that.. it was actually more expensive than the OEM now that I remember.. I think I paid $25 for it.

Tell the toyota dealer you want the cap and rotor from an 85 MR2. They are cheaper then the 90 corolla (same damn thing, different part number)
