gt-s to sr5 power steering

dont get me wrong, i have been searching and reading
but i cant really find a straight answer( and club4age is no help)
my steering rack has been unhooked and dry for several years now (i just got the car 4 months ago)
and my technical college teacher thinks my rack is bad (shimmy at 12 o'clock(straight), but then tightens up when turned like on a curve )
got my wheels balanced btw
and i have an sr5 parts car
is the steering box the same, can i just switch them?
same enuff to swap them?
i do not want ps, but i will loop the lines so there will be fluid in the rack

1986 ae86 gts coupe
p.c. 86 sr5
