I have a 1989 Corolla SR5, with the 4AF engine. I was wondering if anyone out there has switched over to an injection system with this engine, and was it difficult? I am deciding between a new performance carb, or the injection kit. Also, where do you buy a kit, and who makes the best? All help appreciated!!!
I don't think there is a fuel injection kit and I don't think one from a different engine would fit, only thing I've found for the 4AF is a 32/36 Weber DGEV Carb part# TEK 740 from www.webercarbs.com, fits right on apparently, good luck
Agreed. Just get a carb. If you're hell bent on getting EFI, just do a full swap. The 4A-FE is as common as dirt, and the 4A-GE isn't especially expensive either. The Webers sound like a good idea, though.
pfft, thats just silly, carbs can be as good if not better than efi in some areas
Yes i agree with you.
some area it will be better than efi.
You want to upgrade the performance and life of the engine and the drivability of the car.
Please swap another in.
But if you want gain a little power then go to change the carb.
ok... make your own decision.

Yeah, the 32/36DGV, or Holley 5200, was the performance norm before injection was made right, have had many cars with one of those carbs, are very reliable and easy to tune.
Hey Flashman, you better run right out there and replace that motor; it has carbs!
Thanks everyone for the help! I guess that I will go with my original plan of a performance carb! I live at 6,000 feet, and sometimes the cold makes the carb act funny. Oh, well, I guess that I will order the carb! Thanks again!
