89 GTS Won't idle after K&N

I have a 89 Corolla GTS with a JDM Bluetop, after installing a K&N cone filter the car would run for 20 second then shut right off. I am using AFM and the stock intake tube. I know this would happen if a air leak is present between the AFM and throtle body but i could not fine one. Please help!!

is the AFM plugged in properly?? double check that connection - put the car in test mode and see if it throws you any codes

I would then suggest an airleak, but u have ruled it out ...

retrace your install and make sure u didn't miss to connect something.

There's nothing to connect.. that's the problem.. it should've been pretty straight forward..

-unplug the AFM from the airbox
-take out the airbox
-attach filter bracket to AFM
-attach cone/mushroom filter to bracket

That's it.. there were no hoses to attach, the hardest part out of the whole process would have been getting those 2 damn screws inside of the airbox to take them out.. after that it would've been all plug and play. I'm assuming he bypassed something or better yet.. he may have taken out the whole plastic intake with AFM attached to it and then attached one of those ebay intake kits, therefore bypassing the AFM which is a no no. You can't use those metal intakes on 4AGE's with AFM, unless you're attaching the AFM to it.

I'll try finding a picture of my setup, I know I have it somewhere.
