whoa! I'm guessing that it dampens engine vibration. Reduction in loss of energy due is vibration would be an increase in power output. But that thing looks pretty hefty. Maybe in conjunction with poly engine mounts, the car will be as one

It is to dampen the engine when it is torqued under load
cuz when you are applying throttle the engine tries to lean over. this bar will help stablize the engine in its most neutral position.

think of those old american muscle cars and how they rock sideways when they rev their engines.

that little 1600cc piss pot does a similar motion.
