Canada 92 corolla has no heat

hi, my corrola just stopped blowing hot air, the engine is hot, but no heat in the passenger compartment, any ideas?

I've checked that the temp selector is moving freely, it does stick about at both the coldest and hotest ends, and it seems the cable is moving a lever down under the dash.

Thanks in advance

If the car isn't over heating, then the thermostat is probably ok. Chances are that the heater core may be blocked or shot. Check the hoses coming and going out to see if they're hot. If they are ok then you'll have to have a closer look at the controls.

its the thermostat... its probably stuck, replace it and if this persists.. then its probably the hose going to the firewall to the heater core that's probably plugged.

or if you add too much coolant - it will also reduce the heat coming in from the engine.

at least it did on my corolla [1989 GTS]. I removed some of the coolant and I got better heat again. But if your coolant levels are fine - pay me no mind

mine had that same problem too. use a cooling system cleaner(available at most auto shops) then run it for 300 miles or so with the heat dial at full blast( you dont need to turn the blower on), this is done so the fluid goes in the heater core. Then flush the engine with the thermostat out with the heat dial still at hot . Hopefully that would be the end of it. If your heat comes back after this then youre heater core must have been partially blocked. Its a bitch to take out the radiator core try this first and see if it works.
