'95 Corolla buying advice

Hi,
I am looking at buying a '95 Corolla with 148,000 on it. There's some kind of 'ticking' in the engine area but I haven't figured out what it is yet.
What are the know problems with this year Corolla? What should I look for?

My car has that ticking since I bought it.. 140,000km later its still going strong. I think that's just the valves that need adjustment.

Other than make sure there's no excessive rust on the floor.. I can't think of anything else.

I agree... my brother's car had that same ticking noise. when he had the timing belt changed he just had the mechanic make adjustments on the valves. The drivability of the car wasnt bad at all even before he had the valves adjusted. check the suspension if its taut, hoses, and belts. If the hoses are brittle or the belts are loose then you might have to have those change those in the near future.

all the above is good ... my 95 came with worn front wheel berings, rotors and pads, a bunch of burnt out dash lights, a bad motor mount and a leaky set of top end gaskets (head, valve cover, plug rings)
Replaced everything and did a full fluid flush and it runs like new.

[edit] Where in IL are you? I'm in St.L

Well is it fuel injection engine?
Fuel Injection have a tick sound on it. It will be there after you start the engine.
Mine engine also have the ticking sound. After modify I heard the sound once i go to pick up the car. Then i ask them, they told me it is the fuel injection sound.
Don't worry is it a Fuel Injection Engine or Carb Engine
Ya the air-cond compressor will make noise if it is not in good condition already. My cousin bro told me that, because he work as a accessories mechanic.

Make sure that
