In Japan, the Phil and other countries the corner lamps are used as turn signals, not as marker lights as they are in Canada, the US and the rest of N.A. They utilize a large high wattage wedge bulb (#?) in its own unique snug fitting, water tight, larger than avg socket. This presents a problem for any one using them in N. Amer., as the USDM corners are wired as markers the higher wattage bulb has a tendency to melt the socket and the USDM socket is too small for the JDM corner.
So... heres how to fit a common 12v 194/168 wedge bulb in the larger JDM (#?) socket.
194 in JDM Corner lamps DIY - (gen7 93-97)
First, take your 194 wedge bulb and bend the wire contacts to their respective oppisite sides.
Second, stick your bulb in sideways so the wires on the bulb make contact with the metal tabs in the jdm socket, effectively wedging the bulb between the socket contacts and the plastic.
You may have to move the wires on the bulb around a bit or bend the tabs in the socket slightly to ensure you get a solid contact.
the bulb will feel a bit loose but I have yet to have any trouble with it falling out.
They don't look as bright durring the day but they glow full and rich at night.
my rolla w/ 194's in the corners ... keep in mind that my corners are all clear, they dont have that amber piece built in to them as most of the JDM corners do.
