it's gonna be tricky to remove the cams..... why do you need to remove them?

first pull the valve cover and timing belt covers off

turn the crank until the 2 dots on the gears on each of the cams are pointing towards one another (you will know what i'm talking about when you pull the cam cover)

remove the timing belt...... remove the timing belt cam pulley (there is only one).... make note of where the cams are positioned.... then start unbolting the "arches" that hold the cams in.... be careful to note which ones came from where (they *should* already be stamped with I1, I2, I3, I4, and E1, E2, E3, E4, but you should still lay them down in order as they came off) and make sure the respective bearings go with where they came off....... the cams should be removeable now

its probably the gears that drive the other cam that is under the valve cover, one of the gears is split in half down the gear teeth and the other half is under spring tension to get rid of gear clatter, see if anything is wrong with the gears and turn the motor over by hand with the cover off to see if the gears knock against each other, take the plugs out and this will be much easier to do
