Alright as the subject clearly says I'm having clutch problems. To start off, the clutch and slave cylinder have been replaced. About a year ago, never got driven after that.
Now for the problem: Normal driving (no high rpm driving or shifting), my clutch is fine. But as soon as a hit higher rpms around 4500- up I think, my clutch slips when I shift. It's slow at engaging back onto the gears. So basically I have the clutch out and I'm giving it more gas, but the rpms go up for about 1 sec, then drop cause the clutch and gears have caught. Its not a quick grab its very slow. I've noticed that my clutch doesn't grab that hard even at low rpms when I just let it out after a shift(not giving it more gas to keep up RPMs).
I've driven my bro's mustang and the clutch just grabs as soon as I let it out, and my friends civic is the same way. Are the toyota clutches that weak???

i know the oem toyota clutches for 4age's seem to be great and last a long time..
in my experiences, toyota clutches are plenty good.. my dad had an '83 corolla 5 door back in the day.. 12 years and 240K km's, and he never replaced anything to do with the clutch.. of course he wasn't racing his car, but still..
I also know that that bill strong guy of racingstrong.com raced his 200 hp ae86 one year on a stock clutch, no problems..

Ya, you shouldnt have problems with a new clutch. If it was replaced a year ago and is slipping now, than the guy that installed it did it wrong (or lied) eithor way, unless you have some super high HP corolla, you should be fine. The stock plates in the AE clutch's are better than the centerforce stage I.

ok thanks, I didn't replace the clutch. The previous owner( My uncle) told me he replaced it. He replied to me saying the clutch is soft and should be shifted at high rpms. Or else the person that installed the clutch didn't replace everything.

Well we were isntalling some wires for subs in my car and we noticed that the fluid for my clutch is lightly leaking into the car. Could that be the prolem of my poor engaging of the clutch?? Noticed lots of oil around the cylinder on.
could it be the gasket around the cylinder that's cracked??
