To an extent, yes. I read somewhere that if you turn the ignition to 'on' with battery off it resets faster, can't say for sure on that but it makes sence.

Yes. If you cut the power to the ECU for more than a split second it resets.

Instead of pulling the battery, pull the EFI fuse. It's a bunch easier, and you don't loose clock, and radio presets.

take out the efi fuse, but i am not sure regarding the time, so just leave it for some minutes anyway - guess its like motherboards - some keep the bios settings for 30seconds without a battery, some are designed to keep it even for 2hours without a battery.

Ya it's nearly instantly.
I've cleared a billion codes on mine. As quick as you can take it out, turn around and put it back in it'll reset codes, and clear stored data.

No need for that "5 min" "10 min" "or hours.overnight" bullcrap. That's a waste of time

If you go with disconnecting the battery, DO NOT do it with the ignition key in the on possition.
