Hi guys, new here and need some help please. '96 corolla with auto tranny. Can't shift out of park unless I press the release button down near the shifter. Any ideas? Thanks.

Probably a blwon fuse is Involved. Check the fuse panel. I've got the same problem except none of my fuses seem to be blown.

The button on the auto shifter is not working properly. It does completely disengage the lock that would allow the shifter to move out of park. You will need to get it checked out by Toyota.

Check to see if the brake lights are working. The pedal switch may be broken or out of adjustment.
