Strong gasoline odor in the car

Wife just callewd and said her '05 Corolla has a gas odor in the car that has gotten worse since this morning.
She called the dealer and they said bring it in and they'll immediately put it on a lift and look for the problem.
A loaner will be provided if needed.I didn't want her to drive the car but she's pretty close to the dealer.
She filled the car up with gas last week. There is a half tank in it.So it's not from a fresh fill up.Obviously a leak somewhere.
I'll let you all know what the problem is as soon as I know

False alarm!

My dippy wife was going to fill my gas can for my mower.
Never filled it.
She forgot it was in the trunk.
Of course it tipped over and a small amount of gas leaked out causing the smell.

Women:Can't live with them....can't live with them.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get rid of the gas smell.
Took the corolla mat out.
Mixed a qt of white vinegar and 5 gal of hot water.
Drenched the mat.Blotted and then hit it again with a mixture of baking soda and water.
Still stinks but not as much.
Just did the procedure a seconmd time leaving the baking soda and water on the mat.
I'll let it sit and see what happens.
Also washed down the regualr trunk bottom liner and side wth white vinegar and water.
Inside cabin seems to be ok now.
It's the optional mat that's the problem.

BTW.
After this stunt by the wife I'm getting even.
I'm holding back my sexual favors!

Hmmmmm...do you keep your car parked in a garage overnight where you could possibly leave the trunk open to "air out" ?? Or maybe park it outside on a sunny day with the trunk open ??? Oh, and btw....holding back on "favors" doesn't seem a good way to get even......perhaps you should demand yet MORE as "payment" for the problem!!!!

I think the car is fine.
It's got the trunk open right now.
It's the optional trunk mat that the gas was spilled on.
That's in my yard air drying and probably will be for awhile.

The sex thing was a joke.
One good thing about when the wife effs up is just what you said.
MORE guilt sex.
