hey i lowered my car(ae101) a while back and for some reason the front right side it slightly higher than the left side, and its bugging the hell out of me. i figure once i broke in the springs it would eventually even out, but its been about 440 miles and its still not even. any ideas why it is that way also any ideas on what i can do.

Hey Life,
Someone here in Aus had an issue that their front left had actually settled a full 5mm lower than the other corners leading to the problem of that particular corner actually rubbing whilst the other corners were ok, it turned out that it was a faulty spring and the retailer replaced it free of charge. Perhaps get the shop that fitted your springs to have a look at it to ensure all is ok.
well in the engine bay it says ae101 but yah the same model sedan. i might just get that checked out, but see i didn't get a shop to do it, one of my friends did. but he's a ase cert. mech. see in the beginning when i dropped it the front didn't even look lowered at all but after about 100 miles she dropped about a whole inch but then the passenger side only dropped about a half inch more so one side is noticeably higher. it wouldn't have anything to do with the strut would it?
could it be that, the ae101 models have an abnormal weight balancing? so there for there isn't a generous enough weight distribution on the passenger side or something???
I've definately heard of it being an issue ... you could try swapping the front springs. Put the one that hasn't lowered as much on the driver's side. 90% of all hwy entrance and exit ramps curve to the right putting more stress on your left front spring than on your right, that combined with your body weight always being on that side might cause the spring to settle a little more.
hmm an AE101, pretty cool. What year is it and what motor you got? I didn't think the 101's made it to the states ... does it have H4's or is it assembled with the usdm headlights and grill?

currently i have a 7-age engine. i got a 4agze on my back porch i am now in the process of buying the necessary parts for it. i just bought the one piece jdm headlights this week and i am getting someone to custom fabricate me a front grille and bumper(one piece).
my mom has a 94 toyota corona rhd very decent condition back home in the bahamas, i can't remember what kind of engine was in it, but it had a top mount intercooler and a turbo, and it was real quick i think it was a 3s-gte. i wanted to bring that over here to the states but they gave me sooooooooo much hassle i just said forget it.

lifeisviewtiful - thought you might find this interesting. I was under the impression the 101 was not a N.Amer. car, apparently I was wrong and I stand corrected.
The engine in the AE102 is either the 1.6L 4A-FE or the 1.8L 7A-FE (which I concentrate on).* I talk about them in more detail under the Engine Modifications section. *Before I proceed further, I must bring to your attention some overlap in Toyota's use of designations.* In most or all of the US, AE102 designates those Corollas with the 7A-FE engine, while AE101 designates the 4A-FE models. *Toyota probably did this just to make distinguishing parts for the two easier. *On a more global scale, however, AE101 actually designates a late model Levin, quite different from a so-called AE101 US Corolla.* Since the Levin is not available in the states, Toyota probably didn't think the overlap would concern consumers...until I came along.* Since the Toyota culture is more global than local, from this point on, AE101 will designate the Levin while AE102 will designate the Corolla of interest.* I encourage you to make this distinction, and keep it in mind when looking for parts.
Had you done a search on this you would have found that I have discussed this issue quite a few times. If you're the only person in the car, you were supposed to put some weight on the passenger side to even out the load when the springs were settling down by putting some weights or something that weighs as much as you do. Best thing you can do is swap the springs from passanger to driver side and hope they'll equal themselves out.
i haven't really heard anything like that about one being higher than the other but i just thought of something......maybe you have the spring setting in there wrong.....when i took mine off you could see a groove where the old spring was.....i don't know if it would make a difference but maybe you don't have it in that groove......i think that would probly make it up to a cm off so thats worth a try.......
