I think what Nick meant was that most private sales would make it difficult to drive the car to a shop and put in on a hoist. 1. If the cars not plated you cant drive it anywhere. 2. Some private sellers wont agree to putting the car up. Its not a question of how to get the car up on a lift, its how to get it to the lift.

Odd, in recent history I've had 3 sellers who were confident about their car and didn't mind me paying for it being tested and put on a lift. But I see your point.

i'd personally be suspect of someone who claimed a car was in awesome conddtiion but wouldn't allow an inspection:/ right there i'd probably walk away.

That's not worth it at all. Only a FOOL would pay that much for a 15 year old car. And yes, America is full of fools who'd pay that much for a car. Take your money and get a MINT condition S13.

If i had that deal in my hands.....Heck NO! 6 thousand dollars for a 87 gts!?! The most i would pay for a good condition one is 2000 MAX! I'd take that 6k and visit Vegas or England or something.
