USA 93 corolla hesitates on acceleration

Hello,

I have a 93 Toyota Corolla that is having some problems.

When I put my foot about half down on the accelerator the engine hesitates. The engine also makes a sputtering noise and jerks a little. Other than this problem the car is running STRONG for a vehicle with 180K.

If anyone has a fix please share it with me.

Thanks,
CA4

Could be your Throttle Position Sensor. And a tuneup wouldn't hurt I'm sure.

first thing to do, replace your wires and spark plugs.. chances are either one wire or one spark plug is bad.. also it wouldn't hurt to do your air filter and maybe fuel filter.

I tried doing my filter at the dealership, basically the service advisor told me.. "if you're not having problems with it, don't bother replacing it yet." sounds funny but I believe the man since he used to own an AE92 GTS back in the day.
