Hi which 4age is easiest to swap in a 93-97 corolla- red top or silvertop? isnt the red top the one found in the geo prizm gsi? I heard so much stuff about the wiring of the silvertop so Im thinking of doing a simpler swap. One that can be done by me and my uncle. Is the wiring of the 4age found in the prizm gsi simpler since it is found in a US car?

They will all be basically the same.. you'll have to rewire any of the 4AGE's to fit in your car no matter what. The swap itself will be a simple drop in swap, its basically the wiring that's the hardest part.

What motor are you running right now? 4AFE, 7AFE?
Im running the lowly 4afe. Do you think the 7afe will be a better swap? I read from a thread here that the 4age 20v puts out 101 hp at the wheels so if it wasnt gonna be worth it then Id rather do an easier swap
even the 7A is going to be a complicated swap for the power you get out of it. For a start, you have an extra sensor (knock) that you dont have on your current engine and ECU. I'd say go for something out of an AE101 if you want a fairly simple swap.
Just remember, it is still going to be costly and time consuming. If doing it yourself, dont plan for it to take a week (I did). Plan for it to take a month and all going well, you will get it done before that. I could run through all of the little tiny problems i had in the swap, and am continuing to have, but it would take a lot of space to do so. Just be cautious in whatever you decide, and remember: any parts you get from now on (unless you do decide on the 7A) you will have to get from Japan, which means a wait and alot of stuffing around. The other thing: Every model has some little differences, so try to factor these in also.

you can swap to any A-series engine fairly easily. the mounts are all the same (except for the tranny support for the ZE). just make sure the engine you get comes complete with the ECUm harness and all the sensors. and as ren mentioned, the hard part is not installing the engine, its the wiring.
like VooDoo said, any A-series (4A, 5Aetc) will fit. The only problem is the wiring and the minute differences between models that are going to cause problems.
Go with what YOU feel is the best for what you want.

ok you buy yourself a 20v swap off of ebay and pull everything off the clip.(it has to be a front clip). and swap everything into your rolla and you will be straight.

same thing if you do it with a small port, big port or a GZE.

Again, how will this be straight... what about the differences in the vacum lines, power steering lines and brake lines? what about all the brackets that are in different places, and most of all, what about the axle differences?
A 20v swap is not a straight over swap. It takes time.

I think a 7A swap is best, definitely the choice if its a daily driver. You're gonna need to rev high to get the power you need to pull an AE102 out of a 4AGE.
