AE92 Transmission/clutch problem

Ok Im here asking a question for my friend who had some car trouble. She's got an 89 GTS. She was driving home and came to a stop light, went to put the car in first and the clutch became really firm (where she could barely get it down) and then when she did she couldn't get it into gear. She turned the car off and then restarted it and managed to get into gear but it bucked and would grind gears when she shifted. She got it home and now doesn't know what to do with it. Does anyone have an idea of what went wrong with her car? Thanks for your help in advance.

was it doing anything weird before this like having to put the pedal firmly through the floor in order to shift easily? but for now i say pressure plate or throwout bearing. i also suggest a thorough bleeding of the clutch system. the bends in those lines don't lend themselves easily to the passage of air bubbles.
