A fews questions about my AE92

I just want to ask a few opinions about the 4A-f motor. Has anyone tried indexing the sparks on this motor, if so what gains have you seen or maybe some tips before I do it?! ( I am going to try it on friday when I am off.) I have my spark plugs set to the factory gap has anyone tried opening or closing the gap, if so what did you change it too? I am also thinking about match porting the intake. I have and extra intake manifold so I am going to try my porting skills on that first, if it comes out oka I may put it on the car just to see whats happens!! Does anyone know that optimal timing settings? Thanks for any input ahead of time!!

Dont port it yourself, the degree of screwing it up is big. The stock head will flow to about 145hp, before it becomes a restriction. No use on starting to experiment with sparkplug gaps, the stock gap is good enough, sparkplugs arent something you get power from anyways, but you can LOSE power if you mess them up.

no use in indexing the plugs either. they sit in the center at the top of the cylinder head. indexing is only good on the v-8's that have the plug coming in from the side. and the easy way around that is the bosch +2's.

What about my other question about timing, is there an ideal setting fr maximum performance? Ok so the intake becomes a restriction a 145hp, so someone must have made more horsepower with this motor to know this piece of information. What path did this person follow to get this increase in power?! I just got my car back from the exhaust shop this morning!! (Magna-Flow high flow cat and 2.25 piping back to a generic "turbo" muffler!!) It sounds okay!! Its not to ricey at wide open throttle and it sounds great idling!! I still want to find a header though! I plan to order the 32/36 DGEV Weber carb in the next week or two, but after this I am stuck!! Someone please give me something I can use!! Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I'd say few degrees more advance, but you lose top end, because you'll end up having too much timing there. The vacuum advance boosts the timing to about 15deg btdc in stock settings.
