Talking 2005 Corolla-LE Just put in Fog Lamps

I just put in OEM fog lamps (cause for some reason toyota doesn't offer it as an option or std on their "Lux Edition") and it looks outstanding... far better than those black, blanking plugs. Took me all of five minutes to pop in the lights and plug in the wire (lamp assemblies even came with the mounting screw). All the wiring is there; even the 15A fuse in the fuse box. I even swapped out the turn signal arm for the one that has the fog on/off switch... piece of cake (by the way, the old one is for sale in parts forum). The only real difficulty I had was finding the relay. New, they can be as high as $72 (for a $4 part). I looked all over the internet and in every junk yard I could find; no luck so I finally gave up and paid $40 for one that "should" fit at the Toyota Parts dept. Pick it up on Monday.

In hind sight, if I were to do it over again, and I weren't so anal about my cars, I probably would not have swapped out the turn signal/dimmer switch, but instead just tapped into the wires and mounted a remote on/off switch somewhere on the dash. The fogs only come on with the headlamps so most likely I will never turn them off.

Just a note, the 05 fog lamps are not the same as 04 and earlier. Slightly new shape.

So were the foglights different from the 03-04's? Where did you buy them and how much?...I looked at an 05-S model and I really thought that the lights looked the same as the 03-04's even though the sub bumpers were different..I seen a pair on ebay for $79...glad you got them and that they are looking good, congrats...Radd Guy...

No the 05 fog lights are different from 04-03 (I had an 04 before and an 05 XRS). The 05 fog lights stretch farther to the side and have a more 3 dimensional look while the 03 - 04 projected only straight rather than to the sides as well.

i got them at www.toyotapartspeople.com (who in turn it turns out bought them from a toyota dealer in Washington) from their collision parts page. I found them cheaper at rockauto.com but i wasn't very confident in the source. Good luck.

03-04 fogs use a different bulb than the 05's...which convieniently use 9006's.

Fog lamps on 2005 LE. Sorry about the huge picture but i'm too tired to shrink it right now.

For reference: 03-04 uses H3.

IMO I didn't like the 05 fog lamps...they shrunk it down. To some it might be a good thing, for me the bigger ones look more aggressive.

Ouch..my eyes hurt..lol...Looking good Riz, nice job ..iAM I like my 03-04 style fogs also but they put a 9006 bulb in the 05's and that alone has to be a big improvement over the H3 bulbs, brighter, last longer and easier to change...JMHO...RADD GUY
