Good replacement muffler

Hello,

I've got an 04 corolla and am looking at swapping the muffler on it. I don't want one of those retardedly loud ones you can hear from across an entire city though. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also the muffler install shop warned me away from universal mufflers because they might not fit. Does anyone know if this is true in the case of the 04 corolla?

Thanks,
Asheron

If you want flow, get one from a bigger displacement car. would be quiet and flow alot more.

I was trying something on my car, since the factory muffler didn't mean too much to me; I added another outlet on the back of the muffler.
I used an old manifold flange, and just screwed it on over the hole I'd made, the pipe discharges down. It's very quiet inside the car, runs better, and free, basically.

I'm still wanting some tone preferably a good bass note I'll look into those suggestions though. Thanks

(So no one here has had trouble with universal fit mufflers on their 04 corolla's?)

Just stay away from anything "straight thru" and you won't have a problem with it being loud. If you can look thru the pipe, then don't buy it.

Thank you. Do you have any experience with the Warlock series from flowtech? I've seen lots of really good reviews and the ability to shift between straight through and bent is pretty appealing Still want good tone but not alot of noise. But following your advice it would seem that capping it should shut it up fairly well.

Mine sounds sexy too.. but is loud as hell though.. either way, straight thru will be louder than a sports or a catback muffler.

I think he said he wanted something quiet, but freeflowing.

I'd reccommend a used stock Integra Type R muffler, stainless steel, flows great for a 1.8L (b18C5 is 195hp), looks great (not like rice) and is quiet as hell.

I have a 77 280Z Datsun with a straight six, and I got a DynoMax Full Exhaust system and I saw an immediate difference in flow and it was still quiet. It is the DynoMax Super Turbo Muffler. I agree with ericlee though also, the Integra Type-R system is a very high flow system and it is still very quiet. Those are what I would recommend.
