TIRES FOR COROLLA

O.K., i've posted this elswhere and gotten no response, maybe I can get some opinions here, cause you guys are full of it...
Full of opinions I mean...

here goes:
My Corolla came with Firestone FR 680's ( 185/65 R14 ).

I hate them hate them!!

When I first got the car I was spinning alot when I tried to pull out in traffic. At first I thought that it was my clutch work because I owned an '84 Camry AT before this one, but after almost two years with this car I know I can shift it damm well now and it still cuts loose way to easily.
Not only do they cut loose, but they chirp whenever I take off or take a corner with any gusto. (There is an excessive tire noise ordinance in my town so this sucks...)
When it rains I can barely go from a hill stop without spinning the tires. Also in the rain I can cut the wheel sharply and cause the REAR end to cut loose easily.
I think my Corolla doesn't have the clutch/tires to hold up to the pep that the engine has, I mean , if you drive like a grandma it's fine, but those tires start to track horribly above 75-80mph on the highway.

Anyway, I'm obviously in the market for new tires. Eventually I would like TRD 16 by 7 inch rims wrapped with Nittos, but that has to wait for more money. I have checked out Tire-Rack.com for a tire in the range of 50$ (US) to put on my 14 in. factory aloys, and have narrowed it down to the Dunlop SP Sport A2. This tire is a high-performance/all-season tire but it out-performs many high-performance tires in wet and dry traction AND has great grip in the snow. It also out performs many more expensive tires.

Does anyone have the Dunlop SP Sport A2's?
If so how do you like them?
Does any one have other tires to sugest (daily driver)?
Does any one else also hate their stock corolla tires?
Does any one have problems with their high performance/summer tires when the weather turns?
Tire-Rack said I could fit 195/60 R 14's on my rims should I go for the slightly wider tires?

Let me know dudes and dudetts!!!

PEACE!!

Tires

For the money, Dunlop SP Sport A2's can't be beat. If you want to spend a little more, I'd recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE950's. I have friends who've had experience with the Dunlops & they can't say enough them. I had Potenza RE730's on my Integra which rocked, but are summer tires. I'm considering both the RE950 & Sport A2's for my winter Supra rims.

those dunlop's are very good (considering there cheap!)

if youre on a budjet get them.

195 60 14 is a good size it runs well on my mom's corolla
wider tread lower side wall is good !

yeah prior to the 2003 model the stock corolla tires are a p.o.s.!!

either firestone in the us or michelin mx4 in canada they are horible!!

Oh the MX4's weren't that bad
Oh wait yeah they suck in the snow but I know have Cooper performance All-weather (becuase snow is a factor) and they do the trick but I still spin the tires in the rain. If snow isn't a factor (I don't know the bay area to well) I'd go with any good rated wet/dry track tire. Your tred warranty is a consideration thats why I like Goodyear I've had 6 punctured tires and every time they gave me a new tire, and I got them through Wally World (Walmart).

first ? why do yo want nittos?? there are tons of way better tires with less hype out there (IMO)

yea 195 60 14 is a good size
unless your as cool as me and have 2 sets of 205-55-14's

i had a 96 once i had 205 50 15's on it with the right off set heel they will fit (barely)

195-50-15 fit perfect

Wow, this is good.

Yes I am definitly on a budget, I will research the price of your suggestions, thank you. I mentioned the Nittos because that's what the TRD rims come with. I have not really looked into them because that mod is in the future.

Now that I think of it, when I picked those out, I was planning to move farther North where I might encounter snow, but I now know that I will be staying in the Bay Area where it definitley does not snow unless I drive into the mountains, which I don't really. I was looking for a summer high-performance tire for good wet and dry traction - but for the price the dunlop SP sport A2 actually still did better in tracion than comparable no-snow ones. Plus the treadware waranty was superior.

MMMM I will research this stuff but remember, I can't afford like US$70 a pop and up for tires, i need something around 50 or under.

Thanks and peace-
