AE92 Suspension Question

I plan to order GT-S front Springs and Struts (From a Toyota dealership.) for my SR5 in the next day or two, but before I do I was wondering if I only change the front will it affect my ride height. I would do the front and back all at once, but I want to do the disc brake conversion to the rear at the sametime I do the supension pieces, plus anytime I go over a small dip at highway speeds the front end bottoms out!!

Well changing the front wont affect the rear. The disk brake conversion is easy to do and can be done on SR-5 Struts, because the knuckle is the same.

I guess i didn't ask correctly I wanted to to know if it would make the car sit funny. (Nose of the car angled further up or down then it should be?)

Not unless you're putting on lowering springs.. why didn't you just order the struts from the dealer and then a set of lowering springs from somewhere else?? the GTS springs aren't lower.. I think they're probably the same as the SR5 springs.

BTW you will also need the swaybars from the GTS, the struts is not the only difference between GTS and SR5.

I have already pick up and sway and the links from a junk yard over the weekend!! I didn't get and lowering springs because the front lip already scraps just about every freakin' driveway I have ever been in!!

is it just me but the GTS strut should not fit on a SR5.
From what I've saw, they have different serial number on KYB website.

I think that the front GTS suspension setup is different from the SR5...so the GTS front should not fit unless you chage the complete suspension arm.

We have already stablished this and are way over it.. yes the GTS and SR5 suspension is different, he already knew that and went out and bought the whole GTS front setup to swap into his SR5.

KYB site lists the GTS front struts as replaceable cartridges, where as the SR5 is a repleaceable full-strut. BTW can you post the part numbers KYB has on their site?? I can't find the paper where I had all mine written down.

Whiteline in Australia had them but they're discontinued.. your only bet is OEM Toyota or cheaper aftermarket Auto parts store ones.. I'd go with OEM if I was you.

ok.... as for sr5 gts suspension differences....

i've heard the rears in the gts are about an inch taller overall (struts). all GTS struts have a gland nut at the top and has a replaceable cartridge (which is why kyb numbers are the same). GTS came with a front sway bar..... the front swaybar can be used with gts/gtz control arms and bracketry.... i know this first hand

the springs could potentially be different, but after 13 years and probably over 100,000 miles there isn't much of a difference anymore
