It hasn't been done that I know of, but it wouldn't be bad. One or two of the mounts might need to be modified (though now that I think of it, they may very well be the same), and of course the wiring would be the biggest issue. Other than that it's just the exhaust you have to worry about.
I guess the issue is that you might as well get a 4AGE, since it would be cheaper and give you better performance.
If you have a 7AFE, I would try to boost it first. Very easy, and can easily run low 14s before blowing up (seen an auto 4AFE run low 14s, blew up at 15psi)

There could be clearance issues with the 1ZZ/2ZZ exhaust manifold since it faces the firewall, unlike A-series engines that bolt straight in.
1st to 3rd gen 3SGE also fit nicely, these engines are easy to find and don't cost much. They come with close ratio transmissions with 150-160hps and lots of torque. Passenger side engine mount needs to be fabricated, but once that's done you'll have the option of 3SGTE later on.
I wish I had a 3SGTE...BTW I thought 2 of the mounts needed to be modified? Also I don't know what axles/hubs to use (I think 5SFE Camry Tranny, axles, and Celica hubs?) and don't know how to hook up the shift linkages.

The exhaust manifold is the least of your problems! LOL
I found a low milage 1ZZ-FE at a very low price. My 7A-FE needs work. It still runs strong but is using a lot of oil. A rebuild would cost more than this izzy.
The izzy is a US engine and would work well with emissions, which in my part of Tennessee are checked via the ODBll port.

engine definitely will fit but all the other stuff like engine mount, tranny, ecu, etc... stuff that you need in order to change over from a A-series engine to ZZ engine
I'll betcha that the tranny will bolt up. If not you could swap over the bellhousing and then it would. I'll also betcha the mounts are the same or really close. Wiring and exhaust are all that's left
yeah ZZ engines hav not much potential and not much aftermarket support compared to the old A-series engine... plus the A series engine is more reliable than the ZZ engines
go with the newer motor.. like Derek said, the 3S-GE is a very good option! whatever you do, don't get the "jdm ONLY" motors like the 20Vs.. trust me! the last thing you want years down the road is to look for a timing belt or dizzy for those suckers! go USDM!
