I am joining the HACHI ROKU squad...

Well i did it and now the drifting world is waiting for me. the car i have got has a long way to go (tones of rust but good engine and good price.)

I am intrested in bring up power in the low end but i am sure that intake and exhaust will be helping me in the oppsite direction. :-?

It seems that my AE86 has plenty to give after 4400 rpm but till then it's like i have hampsters under the hood.

The engine is a 4a-ge and i have seen a few of you guys doing things like removing your shields to expose the cam gears and building custom cai's and i want to knwo more about how to go about doing these things effectivly to this car.

Due to a hole in the muflfler there will be a neccesty for a cat back exhaust or some thing to remedy the proble as well as upgrade the OEM parts if anyone has dyno results from an exhaust on this car that would be great or even recomendations as to how to chose the parts to use (for example i have heard that the 20 valve headers fit?) :-?

I really haven't spent too much time deciding on mods yet but i think i will be welding the hatch shut as well as cleaning the exterior as much as i can before anything (any one here got any suggestions or hook ups on paint + body work.) I am not overly intrested in haveing an ugly car that i like so i think my first priority is going to be getting it painted so it will be decent looking from the exterior. 8)

So please let me know any little tricks you guys have and if you can ge tme a good price on paint / body work i'd owe ya one!

lets get this monster drifting so i can rep hard for the west side!!!

..ok things i will need very soon....
EXHAUST SYSTEM (mine has a hole)
PARKING BRAKE CABLE (mine is snapped)
FRONT LEFT TURN SIGNAL (mine is cracked)
PAINT JOB + BODY WORK (more holes than swiss chesse)
ANY HINTS YOU GUYS HAVE FOR THE 4A-GE (for instance why remove gear shield, heat shileds, rubber insulation etc???)

1.6 liter NA engines natrually have no low end.

take care of body work.

ensure the frame of the car hasn't been rusted thru, cuz you don't want to be doing anything fast (much less drifting) in a chassis that could BREAK on you!

gear covers are usually off cuz of adjustable gears, but sometimes because of owner laziness, cuz most owners do almost all the work on their cars themselves.

20v headers only fit 4ag engines that are TRANSVERSLY mounted. not north-south.

any exhaust will work, including ones from crappy tire, or recycled civic ones.

last but not least, STOP ACTING SO GAY!!

the ae86 isn't an easy car to drift, especially without an LSD, as you will be peg-legging around corners as the inside wheel lifts.

It has next to no torque, so it isn't the easiest to break the rear tires loose, and REMEMBER taht spinning around is part of the equation in getting sideways, as much as they DON"T SHOW THAT IN INTIAL D.

So do it the old school way, drop the pumpkin, crack it open and weld your diff, and say fuk it.

the ae is a fun car to LEARN to DRIVE FAST, but it sure as hell AIN"T a FAST CAR (jover shut up).
