Water Pump

Well, i'm coming up on 60k in my 93 corolla.....I just wanted to ask you guys......do you think i should replace my water pump when i do the timing belt? The car only has 59,000 miles on it and i want to save money if i can. Sooo, my question is basically how long do toyota water pumps last? I'f i can get this one to last to 120,000 miles i'd be a happy man

Yes, The majority of the cost is in the labor, not the water pump itself. When I had my timing belt done, I told them not to do the water pump, but now I wish I would have, just for piece of mind knowing it wouldnt' fail me.

I have almost 130k on my 93 Corolla and it's still running with the stock water pump. I don't see why you can't achieve the same results, but I also don't know how much age figures in with mileage in the longevity equation. Just make sure you keep your coolant well-maintained so corrosion doesn't build up in the pump.

I may put in a new one some time in the next year as a preventive measure, however. (I'm putting it in myself, of course. Too many sleazy, overcharging mechanics out there.)

the water pump it self is cheap $30-50? but the labor is double that.
but if you gonna keep stock just change the coolant often, it will lubricate the seals and will prevent corrosion.
Toyotas are amazing, they last long!
