shaving 94 corolla trunk lid

I have 94 corolla. And i was wondering if anyone has shaved they're trunk lid between the tail lights. I was thinkin about doin it cuz it seems easy. I was just worrying about the metal warping. Should i weld a solid line or just put a few spot welds and bondo the rest?

as in my sig i redid my center section i hated my LE trim panel i made this one out of the black one easier than shaving it like that

i like the way u did that. But, i want a solid and flat look with no key hole. i like those lights. How did u fab that?
