Transmission swap-ability?

Got a nice 2000 Prizm. Three speed auto. Want to swap a four speed auto into it. Thoughts? Advice? Secrets? Straight bolt-in?

Thanks,

Ed

Prizm = Chevrolet Prizm = Corolla

1.8 vvti, as in Corolla

Three speed automatic, thus no overdrive.

Want to switch to four speed automatic WITH overdrive.

Looking for answers on compatability, etc.

Chevrolet or Geo Prizm's have always been Corollas. They're built in the same plant, just slightly different trim, etc. Mechanically the same, to my knowledge. Type engine? 1.8 DOHC four. VVTI, no belt. I don't know what the engine "code" is. It's just a little cheapo car we bought to tow behind our motorhome, and would like to pull the three speed and pop in a four speed. We only paid $3500 for it, perfect condition and low miles. Year 2000. I see transmissions on ebay for $250, so why not swap it if that's doable. Should be a very simple job and only take a few hours to do. Now, are they swappable?
