How do you check C.E.L.

Hi is there a way to jump the ECU to check CEL codes without using a OBD tool?
Its for a 99 Corolla Auto

go to autozone(if you have them in canada, or something else like that), they will go out to your car with a scanner and tell you what codes are showing for free.

Go buy a CarChip by Davis Instruments. Commonly available (Sears). $149USD. Not only checks codes, but monitors engine and driving parameters for 300 usage hours. Works with any OBD-II car, as in any car 1996 and newer. Probably the single best tool you will purchase.
