engine runs noisy..could it be lifters???

engine is a little noisy and when i got a second opinion from a guy at discount auto parts, and i was told that it sounds like the lifters. any opinions.

i already did a tune up, oil change, changed distributor rotor and cap, and a few other things as well. O2 sensor has been changed out too. the engine just doesn't sound quiet like its supposed to. also if it is the lifters how hard are these to change/repair???

A guy from a discount auto parts store? Don't think I would trust him with my car's health. None of the things you did make a difference in "noise". Could be valve train noise. Could be a leaky exhust manifold gasket. Could be a failing water pump. Could be a bad timing chain or belt tensioner. Could be gravel in the oil sump. Could be a failing power steering pump. Could be...

Find someone who actually knows cars, and have them diagnose it. I don't think an auto parts store flunky qualifies...
