Engine Swap help! for a 86 Corolla

Hey Every1 i need help on my just bought 86 Corolla SR5. it's a 5 speed with 170k miles on it. I wanna know what would be a good engine swap besides a 4AGZE. What i was thinking was a 3S-GTE (91-94 mr2 motor) on a JDM altezza 6 speed tranny. Would that work, without being a bite out of my wallet?

a regular 4AGE isn't alot of power tho. that's like 120-130 horses isn't it? i want something with more grunt to it. at least 150-200 hopefully.

hehe, convert it to a gts first ..... which also involes swapping i a 4age. Besides a stock 4age has plenty of oomph to have fun with.

hahaha... you can't put altezza 6-speed tranny (from the BEAMS 3S-GTE, i assume) and "without being a bite out of my wallet!" in the same sentence..

btw, 160whp isn't as easy as it seems. th cheapest way to get the power you want is boost. Rust_bucket is right.. he knows about the turbo 16V set-up! (Rust_bucket, nice to meet you bro! what a wild set-up that is.. too bad your bro is cashing in with your hardwork and not you but hey at least you have your own pad, hehehe!)

People see the swaps in magazines and automatically assume they can do the same swap... the only thing the magz don't tell you is how much this swap cost them to do.. with a beams 3SGE going for almost $10,000 not including transmission, don't look for anything under $25,000 to do this swap.. now it doesn't look as sweet as it did in the magazine does it?

there's actually a BEAMS 3S-GE being sold at club4ag.com with a 6 speed tansmission and the ITBs from AE111 20V BT. the only thing is you need a standalone ECU and harness for it to run. i think the guy is asking $6000USD.

damn... how much horses does a 4AGZE have? they already have a supercharger on em so that shouldn't be that expensive for the swap. i never seen the Beams GS-GE. I'm kinda New to Roku's. I guess i'm a Hachi Roku Ricer. ... How much would a 4AGZE swap cost? about.

It is not a Hachi Roku without a 4AGE

My believe is that a real hachi roku has a 4age 16v engine. If you want a 3sge, 4age 20v, or a 1ggte engine swap, you are, well, like killing the hole hachi roku concept.

My advice is that you get a 4age 16v, and then think if you wanted with EFI or with dual carbs. Making a NA car with 112-125 hp (like a 4age 16) faster requiers more G`s. Buy light flywheel, hks camshafts, do some port polishm headwork, etc, etc. If you want your hachi roku with 4age go faster with less money, do this: get some 4agze forged pistons, 3sge injectors, supra fuel pump, ct20 turbo, intercooler, make a turbo manifold, necessary piping, blow off, turbo timer, fuel pressure regulator, boost gauge and a manual boost controller. 5-10psi of boost and your 4age 16v becomes instantly into a 4AGTE 16V with 170-200hp depending on the desire boost. The t-50 tranny can manage de hp`s till you get to 200-220, after that your t-50 will actually break into pieces. So if you want more power, get the w55 (supra) tranny, it has longer ratios, but with the turbo spinning (wushhhhhhh!!! haha), you wont notice the difference. And maybe you can get a NX 100hp shot kit.(nice huh?).

Dont make the 4agze a 4agte, make the 4age a 4agte, because the NA 4age camshafts are better, its like buying better camshafts for the 4agze.

Good luck

And sorry if my english is not so clear or well written (im doing my best!)

how much will all that cost me! that's insanely good info but i don't know how, or where i'd be able to make my own piping or manifold. that's kinda why i was hoping on a Engine swap so i can put some money into a good solid block(so to speak) of performance. Turbo's you have to weight for the Turbo's RPM to kick in. A powerful motor all i need to weight for is the torque band which i'll only be concerned about for drifting.

then, go...

Well, an all engine NA 4age 16V will cost you VERY MUCH. If you want the car for drifting, then get the 4AGZE (great torque, 160hp stock,) and keep the supercharger.

If you want more power, the next step would be a 3SGE. but with a 4AGE 20V (any top) you would feela a good rush when the tach gets to the 8000rpm range..haha..really!

My advice: Make a nice 4AGE 16V, 160-200hp, and you wont be dissapointed.

i think that's what i'll go with then. a 4AGZE. 160 in the roku's light body would be very fun and good for drifitng. you guys just pour a crazy amount of info! here's a complete beginner question, Vavles are apart of the Head Right? so Would a 20V Head fit on the 4AGZE? if they aren't already equipped with it. Would it be worth it to do?
