celica/corolla 2zz differences?????

can anyone tell me the differences between the celica and corolla 2zz engines. the Celica makes 20 more ponies. toyota detuned the 2zz for the corolla.....but how? I want my wife's corolla to have 20 more. is it merely computer programming, or are there hardware differences such as cams, etc. with the limited amount of performance parts available for the Xrs this info would be very valuable

Thanks,
Brian

ECU more or less. There might be some other very minor things... but mainly the ecu. The Corolla was retuned for a better torque curve...

It's only a 10 hp difference by the way. Lots of people swap the Corolla ECU for the one from the Celica, but it's not worth the trouble in my opinion... just get an SAFC and tune it yourself

Also lift engages at different RPMs, but even with a lower HP rating... the Corolla manages a quicker quarter mile run. Also... the Celi (I believe) uses an older 16 pin ECU and the Corolla has a new 32 pin ECU.
