The needles are very fragile.. a friend of mine put indiglo gauges on his 99 SiR, and he broke one of them.. the gas needle i think.. good thing he didn't brake it off all the way, he only broke about half of it. all because he didn't wanna mess them up by taking them off.
If you do take the needles off however, chances are they might get out of sync and you will get false readings.
